The Assistant Caregiver is responsible for supporting and assisting the senior caregiver in the day to day running and operations of the daycare. The role is inclusive of but not  limited to the following:
  • Ensure that the daycare is cleaned for the receipt of babies on a daily basis.
  • Preparing meals for babies.
  • Ensuring all children are clean and groomed.
  • Assisting in the execution of lesson plans for toddlers.
  • Documenting feedings, naps and bowel movements.
  • Ensuring all daily communication journals are prepared and filled.
  • Operating the computer to ensure appropriate music is being played for the children.
  • Assisting in the bath time and playtime activities.
  • Operating the digital camera to take photos and videos of the children.
  • Reporting to the Senior Caregiver on any observation with parents and babies.
  • Completing any other assigned responsibilities given by the Senior Caregiver or Department Supervisor.

The Senior Caregiver reports to the Department Supervisor and is responsible for the daily care and running and smooth operation of the day care. They should have a clear  understanding of the standards and policies of the day care and be able to guide in the execution of such. Their role is inclusive of but not limited to the following:
  • Training the new caregivers and assistants on standard operating procedures.
  • Ensuring that the environment is safe and clean for children and adults.
  • Ensuring meals are properly prepared for children’s consumption.
  • Assigning the required tasks and responsibility to assistants.
  • Ensuring that all documentation in journals is done daily.
  • Ensuring that adequate notification is given to parents on issues.
  • Ensure operation of all equipment is done in a safe and effective manner.
  • Planning the weekly activities for babies and toddlers.
  • Operate and care for digital equipment, such as tablets, computers, cameras.
  • Complete all other responsibilities assigned by the Department Supervisor
